Duration: 3 months (with possibility of extension), 20 hours a week max
About Citizens for a Secure and Safe America (C4SSA):
Citizens for a Secure and Safe America (C4SSA) is a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to promoting the rights and interests of Syrian Americans and advocating for policies that contribute to a secure and safe America. Our mission is to raise awareness about the challenges facing Syrians, advocate for their rights at local and national levels, and engage with international organizations like the United Nations to address issues affecting our community.
Internship Description:
C4SSA is seeking a passionate and dedicated intern to support our advocacy efforts at the international level, including with the United Nations and foreign embassies. The International Advocacy Intern will work closely with our team to research relevant UN resolutions, policies, and initiatives related to Syrians and contribute to our advocacy campaigns aimed at promoting the voice of the Syrian people.
Responsibilities:
– Conduct research on UN resolutions, reports, and policies related to refugee rights, human rights, and conflict resolution, with a focus on Syria.
– Monitor UN meetings, events, and initiatives relevant to C4SSA’s advocacy priorities.
– Assist in drafting advocacy materials, including letters, briefs, and statements, to be submitted to UN officials and other international agencies.
– Support the organization of virtual meetings, webinars, and events to raise awareness about the issues facing Syrians and promote C4SSA’s advocacy agenda.
– Collaborate with C4SSA team members to develop advocacy strategies and action plans for engaging with UN officials, foreign diplomats, and international stakeholders.
Qualifications:
– Strong interest in international relations, human rights, refugee issues, and/or Middle Eastern affairs.
– Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
– Familiarity with the structure and functions of the United Nations is preferred but not required.
– Previous experience in advocacy, community organizing, or nonprofit work is a plus.
– Familiarity with Syrian American issues is highly desirable.
