About Citizens for a Secure and Safe America (C4SSA):
Citizens for a Secure and Safe America (C4SSA) is a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to promoting the rights and interests of Syrian Americans and advocating for policies that contribute to a secure and safe America. Our mission is to raise awareness about the challenges facing Syrians, advocate for their rights at local and national levels, and engage with international organizations like the United Nations to address issues affecting our community.
Internship Description:
C4SSA is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to support our domestic advocacy efforts, particularly focusing on congressional advocacy and engagement with the U.S. government. The Domestic Advocacy Intern will work closely with our team to research legislative initiatives, track policy developments, and assist in organizing advocacy campaigns aimed at advancing the interests of Syrian Americans and promoting policies that contribute to a secure and safe America.
Responsibilities:
– Conduct research on legislative proposals, policy initiatives, and government programs relevant to Syrians and related issues, such as immigration, refugee resettlement, and civil rights.
– Monitor congressional hearings, briefings, and legislative sessions related to C4SSA’s advocacy priorities.
– Assist in drafting advocacy materials, including policy briefs, fact sheets, and talking points, to be used in meetings with congressional offices and government agencies.
– Support the organization of virtual advocacy events, town halls, and meetings with elected officials to raise awareness about the challenges facing Syrian Americans and advocate for policy solutions.
– Collaborate with C4SSA team members to develop advocacy strategies and action plans for engaging with congressional representatives, government officials, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
– Strong interest in domestic policy, legislative advocacy, and civic engagement.
– Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
– Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
– Familiarity with the U.S. legislative process, including Congress, government agencies, and policymaking mechanisms.
– Previous experience in advocacy, government relations, or grassroots organizing is a plus.
– Familiarity with Syrian American issues is highly desirable.
