Dr. Jawdat Abboud is the Treasurer of C4SSA. He was born and raised in Deir-Ezzor, Syria. He studied medicine at Damascus University. As a college activist, he was jailed for a number of years by the Assad regime. He escaped Syria after medical school and immigrated to the United States. He has been an activist in the U.S. in support of the Syrian cause since the uprising in Syria began in 2011. He established the Arab Spring for Syria organization in the U.S., which was involved in multiple interfaith activities as part of President Obama’s Interfaith and Community Service Campus Challenge and the National Prayer Breakfast. Dr. Abboud has also been an active leader and member of the Syrian Civil Movement for Rehabilitation and Change in northeast Syria.
