WASHINGTON, D.C. — Citizens for a Secure and Safe America (C4SSA) strongly condemns the horrific terrorist attack carried out by ISIS on the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Homs, which killed eight worshippers and injured more than eighteen others during Friday prayers.
This cowardly act of violence, targeting civilians in a place of worship underscores the continued threat ISIS poses to Syria’s fragile recovery and to the safety of its diverse religious and ethnic communities. Attacking an Alawite mosque during a sacred moment of prayer was a deliberate attempt to inflame sectarian tensions and destabilize the country at a time when Syrians are striving to rebuild their nation after years of devastation.
C4SSA extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stands in solidarity with the people of Homs and Syria’s Alawite community. Every Syrian—regardless of faith, ethnicity, or background—deserves to live in safety, dignity, and peace.
As Syria enters a new chapter following liberation, the complete elimination of ISIS and all extremist networks remains essential to ensuring lasting stability. The international community, alongside Syria’s new government and local partners, must remain fully committed to dismantling these terror groups, holding perpetrators accountable, and protecting civilians.
C4SSA reaffirms its support for a free, inclusive, and secure Syria—one where mosques, churches, and all places of worship are sanctuaries of peace, not targets of terror.
